Madrid Monuments

Madrid’s long and turbulent history is reflected in the capitals range of monuments, many of which originate from the confident 18th century and later under the direction of Joseph Bonaparte. The Madrid monument which is displayed in the above picture was once the ancient gate to the east of the city and is called the Puerta de Alcalá.
